Bush Art Gallery

The Strawberry Fields Bush Art Gallery presents:

PLACE TO DRIFT ... through dust, water and dream.

Bringing together a vibrant collection of street art, surrealism, pop culture and abstraction - this exhibition is a celebration of art, unafraid to shift reality.

Place to Drift ... to float, to wander and to watch. An invitation to slow down, let go of direction and trust the currents.

Aleks Grilz is a painter and muralist currently based in Melbourne. His figurative style depicts characters and articles from an imagined Sci-fi universe. His world is ever expanding with the creation of each new painting.

CREATURE CREATURE is an artist duo based in Melbourne, Australia, comprising of Chanel Tang and Ambrose Rehorek. They have a collaborative art practice that spans across exhibiting art, murals, street art, design, and illustration.

Their combined style is a convergence of Asian aesthetics and iconography with a Western perspective, resulting in works brimming with contrast and fluidity. The work embodies the concept of duality and the sum of a whole, emphasising messages of togetherness, states of balance, yin and yang.

Through their partnership, they aim to preserve diversity and create expressions that are complex, layered, and interconnected, celebrating the beauty of unity.

Michael Glenda, aka Jumble.SDM, aka Micky G Tattoo.

I’ve basically done art since I could hold a pencil. I’ve been doing graffiti for almost 40 years, been tattooing for almost 20. In all those years I’ve probably tried most forms of art and on most canvases. Had a few solo exhibitions, many group shows, a couple clothing labels why not. Been locked up for painting on things that weren’t mine.

These days you can find me with a tattoo gun in my hand or a spray can doing a big mural somewhere. Still living and learning as I go. Thanks for looking.

Ngarra Kulin is a Boonwurrung/Wiradjuri artist and former dancer whose practice is grounded in the meditative act of line-making.

His background in movement informs the way he paints, with each mark carrying the rhythm and flow of an unspoken choreography. Working with repetition and linear forms, his paintings become both records of movement and moments of stillness, directly transferring the body’s energy onto the surface.

Drawing on the cultural iconography of his Boonwurrung and Wiradjuri heritage, he reinterprets motifs such as diamonds and chevrons through a contemporary, improvised hand. For Ngarra, painting and dance are parallel languages, each navigating the terrain between personal and ancestral memory.

His canvases act as sites of connection between past and present, self and community, inviting viewers to slow down, listen, and reconnect with the rhythms beneath contemporary life.

Rebecca Fletcher is a Melbourne/Naarm based emerging artist working in figurative oil painting. Her contemporary portraits explore themes of womanhood, identity and resilience, centring strong female protagonists through bold colour and simplified form.

Holding a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Rebecca began her career in graphics before spending more than two decades in the fashion industry, working across textiles and buying. This background continues to influence her practice through an intuitive use of colour, composition and use of pattern.

Her work draws on the emotional landscapes of motherhood and the quiet strength of women, creating paintings that celebrate resilience, connection and the stories that shape us.

Harry Pack is a multi-media artist who explores the depths of altered consciousness and heightened perception through his work. His creative practice, spanning painting, illustration, and digital media, reflects his fascination with the meeting point between psychedelic experiences and the inner workings of the human mind.

Katira (Katherine Gailer) is a Colombian multidisciplinary artist currently based in Melbourne, exploring cultural identity, the natural environment, women’s empowerment, and contemporary design through public murals, installation works, painting, design, and music.

Katherine’s creative expression lives at the intersection of urban and natural environments, modernity and tradition, colour and culture. Her dream-like compositions celebrate the invisible fabric that weaves together humans and nature.

Sally Hastings is a pop artist originally from Melbourne, Australia. In 2023 she left behind a 20 year career in advertising to paint full time in her home studio in Buxton, regional Victoria. As a self-taught painter, her work explores themes of nostalgia, pop culture and kitsch Australiana. She works in acrylic paints and draws her audience in with bright, pop-y, sugar-y, graphic compositions. Sally has exhibited at many local Melbourne galleries as well as some group shows in the United States. Her pop surrealist artworks have already been collected all over the world – mostly in the United States and UK – but also one very special collection in Denmark. <3

Chimp is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist from New Zealand, now based in Melbourne and working from Everfresh Studios, Collingwood. With a background in skateboard production, street art, and a degree in industrial design, he has spent over a decade creating large-scale murals and sculptural installations.

His practice explores themes of human connection, identity, and survival within an ever changing world. Through abstraction, Chimp reinterprets nature and architecture in response to shifts in technology, society, and the environment. Bold colour palettes, geometric shapes, and organic forms combine to create a visual language that reflects adaptation and transformation.

Simon James, AKA Jamsimosa is a visual artist from South West Australia who draws inspiration from the liminal space between inner vision and the outer natural world.

Weaving ethereal pattern and texture through the Australian landscape, his paintings ground the visionary in the present moment and reveal the animate presence of place.

Nathalia Suizu is a Melbourne based artist who strives to live and paint by the mantra 'follow your bliss'.

A self-taught painter with a background in interior design, Nathalia’s art reflects her widely travelled spirit and takes influence from Latin American folk art, psychedelia, textile design and spiritual iconography. Naive forms, clashing patterns, textural relief and sparkling embellishments are signature to Nathalia’s visual lexicon, which she delivers in a dazzling palette of richly saturated colour. Layered with symbolism and totemic motifs, her painted narratives explore themes of mythology, mysticism, enchantment and nature.

Dancing between careful consideration and playful spontaneity, she searches for balance, resonance and meaning in each piece. Her unique paintings chart an exploration of consciousness and self-discovery and are vibrant, life affirming manifestations of wonder, beauty and joy.

Nathalia has exhibited at various Australian galleries and has lent her artistry to notable fashion, retail and lifestyle brands, including Gorman, Erik Yvon, Melbourne Fashion Week & Hey Tiger. She is currently represented by Fenton & Fenton in Australia, and Galerie Duret in Paris, France and the USA.

TOMMY YUCK A tattooer and self-professed “beginner forever” with a penchant for surreal, deranged and amusing designs.

His unique and visceral style takes from the world of traditional tattooing classics, blended with the grotesque psychedelic brain children of his imagination.

May all your shits have antlers.
