From working Artist Liaison at festivals like Inner Varnika, Strawberry Fields, and Finding Figaro, to lending a hand at Skylab Radio, Sure plays a quiet but steady role in the ecosystem that keeps things moving (or so he hopes). As a previous co-founder of the Chewin the Fat charity parties and host of Odd Doubts on Skylab Radio, his selections reflect years of deep digging and an attempted ear tuned to the right track for the right time. Expect dubbed-out chuggers, deep cut disco edits, nostalgic overdrive, and groove-heavy curveballs stitched together with care, whilst not taking himself too seriously in any regard. Whether opening a room or soundtracking a sunrise, DJ Sure plays with instinct, patience, and a soft spot for the unexpected.

To many a series of discordant, often obscure and forgotten names but to Gilles Peterson and an ever growing number of radio listeners, clubbers and music lovers, these and many other artists form a rich, vibrant and coherent thread stretching from the primal roots of Africa to the bass culture of Jamaica via the urban soul of Detroit to the intricate stylings of the European new jazz generation. All in all, a truly global musical perspective championed by Gilles for the past 20 years and given voice on his weekly Radio 1 show ‘Worldwide’ and heard around the planet from London to Lagos to Los Angeles. It is this instinctive, personal belief in the uniting power of music that has motivated his vision of an all-embracing musical language that not only cuts across cultural, linguistic and national boundaries but also encompasses them to create new possibilities, new vistas. Indeed, to quote from Lonnie Liston Smith to create ‘a vision of a new world’.

Horse Meat Disco is a byword for Sunday night London bacchanalia which accidentally resuscitated the original dance music genre onto the world stage. The four-strong DJ collective of Luke Howard, Severino Panzetta, James Hillard and Jim Stanton began their disco shenanigans on New Year’s Day, 2004 at The Eagle, Vauxhall. Beside their famous well-hung equine neon logo (“Our Eiffel Tower”), their brand of reverential, revisionist bonhomie turned out to be its own form of futurism, restructuring the London nightclub pyramid. “You put music at the top and getting high or jiggy follows,” they say, “not the other way round.”

The accidental phenomenon of Horse Meat is built on the shared good vibrations and aesthetics of their genre. As testament to the public love for their makeshift, DIY brand, no other disco collective has arrived in their lifespan to attempt to knock them from their beloved perch.

WITCH (an acronym for We Intend to Cause Havoc), a pioneering Zambian psychedelic band, are one of the defining acts of Zamrock—a vibrant fusion of Western rock, R&B, and traditional African rhythms that emerged as Zambia forged its post-independence identity in the 1970s. In 2023, WITCH released Zango, their first new album in nearly four decades, followed by SOGOLO in 2025—proving their legacy continues to evolve for a new generation.

Wilson Tanner do it outside. Laidback, sparse and escalating, the collaboration of Andras and Eleventeen Eston takes ambient music outside and leaves it to the elements. Known for navigating individual courses as solo musicians, Wilson Tanner’s collective storytelling is saturated in detail, buoying between tension and harmony. Their first album ’69' (2016) was recorded in a backyard in Perth. Throwing electroacoustic conventions overboard, their second album ‘II' (2019) was recorded at a mooring on Port Phillip bay. 'Legends', their 3rd, is a wine-soaked agricultural fantasy, made among the grapevines at Manon Farm in South Australia and is released on Efficient Space.

Through an agricultural haze an image of a working vineyard emerges - ducks, dogs and plovers intrude; tractors and quads fly-by; stainless steel gleams at the edges. Recording mostly without mains power, Wilson Tanner press their surroundings into something raw and unfiltered, letting bum notes, leftovers and sediment linger in the bottle.
